Reporting to School
Students who enter the US need to report to school no later than their specified start date. If the student will not be able to attend school on their specified start date, they must contact the school and let them know when they will arrive and the reason for the delay. Students who have entered the country and do not report to the school will be terminated within thirty days of their start date. Students who have not entered the country and do not report or contact the school will be cancelled within thirty days of their start date.
Host Families
While in attendance at Faith Christian School, international students are required to live with a host family, even if the student is over 18 years old. Those who are not living with their own family members or relatives are expected to follow their host family’s rules, participate with family activities and assist with family chores.
Please submit the Host Information form as soon as possible.
An adult host family member or local relative must be given permission by the natural parent to authorize medical treatment. Please submit the Medical Consent form upon arrival to campus.
Travel
Students are expected to arrange travel to the US at the start of every semester. Any days delayed will count as absences unless there are visa issues and those issues are communicated ahead of time. Also, no special arrangements will be made for taking semester exams early to allow for early flights at the end of the semester.
Health Insurance
All students must submit proof of insurance to the school upon arrival. If no proof is submitted within 15 days, the student will be enrolled in the health plan chosen by the school at the natural parent’s expense. One company that provides adequate international health insurance is BETiNS. Their website is betins.com or you may contact them at 866-552-8834.
Transfer Students
Students transferring from another Sevis approved school need to follow the specified transfer policies. Please contact the school for transfer information. Please be advised that your I-20 should not be transferred to the school without an acceptance letter from Faith Christian School.
Advising/Grade Reports
The international student will be assigned an advisor and the student will have the opportunity to meet with this advisor twice a year or as often as needed. All grades, formal and informal, will be provided to the student’s host family.
