One of the best parts of being involved in a school family is being able to meet and bond with amazing new people every year. Each year we have had the pleasure of seeing our staff grow. This year in particular we have been able to add quite a few new additions to the team! One that we are just so excited to have is Elizabeth Davis who will be our Elementary STEP Director!
A little on our STEP – Special Training and Educational Program – Faith Christian School has had a vision for many years to provide Christian education for children with special needs. Out of that vision came our STEP program that is dedicated to helping to reach out and serve all the children that we can, including those with learning challenges. Our STEP teachers and aides love children and feel called by the Lord to serve Him in this area. This makes Elizabeth the perfect person for this job as she has a B.S. in Health Promotion: Clinical, and a minor in Psychology from Liberty University. She also has an M.S. in Occupational Therapy from Winston Salem University. Additionally, she is a licensed Occupational Therapist with a focus in pediatrics. She has always had a passion for helping children that need a special education in a way that aids them to grow and be as successful as possible.
Arizona is a newer experience to her and her family as she originally came from Apex, North Carolina, and moved here 5 years ago. When asked she said, “I have enjoyed living in Arizona for the past 5 years with my husband and our growing family.” Elizabeth and her husband, Paul, are blessed with three children ages 4, 2, and 3 months old. We love to see her little ones in the office and classroom when she brings them in.
Her hobbies consist mostly of sports and outdoor activities. She elaborated on this saying, “We love the outdoors when the weather is nice, or you will find us swimming when it is too hot. Growing up I enjoyed playing school sports: basketball, soccer, and volleyball.” This leads to another one of her passions which is teaching the morals and love of Christ through sports ministries. This has led her all around the world including Japan.
Even though this is her first year with us, we can already see the amazing ideas and deep passion that she has for her work and our students. Elizabeth put it best when she said, “My desire is to utilize my expertise to continue building the STEP program where we are providing our FCS children with the greatest opportunities for independence and success in life; however, most importantly to personally accept Christ and grow daily in Him.”
We thank the Lord for Elizabeth and the education and expertise that she brings to our school, and we are excited to have her as one of the family!
Welcome to Faith Christian School, Elizabeth!
